Organic Production Technology VKA2018 Sem VIII

The Department of Agronomy, COA, Vellanikkara  is offering a (0+10) course Elcp 4205 for the final year BSc (Ag) students as a part of Experiential learning programme  under the STUDENT READY programme as envisaged by ICAR. About thirteen topics under Organic production technology including preparation of various organic manures, bio fertilizers , studies on bio control agents, mass production of enriched composts , raising organic vegetables in open terraces and  poly houses are also being focused. Apart from these, classes on organic certification and marketing aspects are also covered. Finally to cap it all, a project proposal and work plan for establishing an organic farm and manure production unit is also planned to develop the entrepreneurial instincts of the students. Under the present situation in the wake of Covid pandemic, it is proposed that possible theory topics can be covered under online mode but the major practical works may be carried out in the field itself. Smt Raji S Prasad , Smt Jayasree P and Smt Anjana Babu S R , Assistant Professors , Agronomy are assigned the duties and responsibilities in connection with the course work under the leadership of the HOD i/c Dr. P. Prameela. For undertaking the various practical works under this course several farm inputs are required.  Inputs shall be procured from the various production units under KAU, farmers, and other registered input agencies.
